Guest guest
Hi Candy, Once again I need to ask for explicit directions in making sachets. I've never held a bottle of EO's in my hand. I have no idea how much oil is in a bottle. And I have no idea how potent it is. Say I want to make 16 sachets ... each sachet bag would hold about 2-tbsp of kitty litter, right? So that's 16 bags X 2 tbsp = 32 tbsp of litter. 1 cup = 16 tbsp. I would need 2 cups of kitty littter. How many drops of Essential Oil would I need to add to the 2-cups of kitty litter? Thank you for any advice you have to offer. Carol No. CA/USA I make sachets from either aquarium type gravel or with kitty litter. (The plain all clay type of litter.) Mix your EO's with the gravel or the litter, and package in your sachet. Very simple, and the fragrance lasts for quite some time. But I tend to use the gravel over the kitty litter. Since sachets are for the purpose of placing 'scent' wherever....I think you could just use as much as you think smells right. Also, I think it might matter as to what type of sachet you are making. Are you using a type of bag that will allow the oils to seep through easily?? Or just the fragrance to seep through? If you are using something that will allow the oils to seep through at all, I would mix my EO with a carrier oil before adding it to the litter or the gravel. Better safe than sorry. I'd rather have my EO's diluted properly. But as far as an actual % or measurement in teaspoons or whatever, I have never measured....so I couldn't tell you. I just let my nose lead me. Once it smells right to me, then I package them up. HTH a bit, and if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask, and I will try to help you futher! Best of luck on your sachets! Guest guest
Sorry for butting in and hope it is okay but on one of my candle groups they recommend using the crushed corncob. I make these all the time and the OTL truck drivers just love em. Here is the recipe I use. 2C crushed corncob 1 oz FO Combine these in a glass jar and shake every so often for the next couple of days. Then pour the mixture out onto a newspaper to soak up any remaining oil. Spoon approx 2 oz mixture in 2X3 " muslin bags and tie off. Makes 4 bags. Hope this helps you all. Nice peaceful, helpful banter. For me, I don't care for the corncob sachets.... A friend of mine absolutely LOVES them, and made some for me. For the first couple of days, those things smelled divine! After that, they smelled worse than a nasty wet dog to me! LOL So, I suppose it's all subjective, and it's all in what you like best. After all, it's our differences that make the world go around! Life would be so boring if we were all alike, and we all liked the same things. Thanks for the recipe....never know, I might give it a try again....just to see if they have the wet dog smell after a few days! Take care!
