Guest guest
Hi all, got my tubes tied on the 13th of september, the incison in my belly button has healed up great, but the incison below my belly button is still seeping and hurts like a an itchy kinda hurt. I have had a LOT of stress this week, so I think thats what has started the seeping , also the incison is right in the spot that rubs against the counters, so when I do dishes, it causes irritation. I'm using a local antiseptic cream on the area, but it doesn't seem to be working, the area around the incision has become inflammed. Not quite ready to spend all afternoon at the doctors office, anyone suggest any oils that I can use? On the weekend I developed whits ulcer like things around the incision, which were very painful, but they seem to have gone as quickly as they appeared. Saw Debbie's Aromatherapy tip and she recommends Patchouli for cracked sore skin, just wanted other opinions before I make matters worse.. Thanks guys. Guest guest
Carol, This wound should be healed or almost by now. You could have a small abscess. Keep a close eye on this. What color is the drainage? If it is creamy this means infection. Clear with a slight yellow or red tinge is normal. If the area is red and hot to touch...also infection. If you develop fever it could be a serious sign and could mean peritonitis..very serious and means run to the ER. I would avoid applying anything to the area but a topical antiseptic. You don't want to confound the symptoms you are having by trying anything new. Guest guest
Carol, warm damp washcloths will help circulation. Yarrow is good for infections. If you have yarrow, make some tea and put a wet warm yarrow tea compress on it. Guest guest
This may be way off, but I had one of those tiny incisions once, and the stitches that they use don't always dissolves as they should. I can't remember how long it took, but after a period of time (after I'd considered it healed) it started itching and getting irritated. A week or so later, out came a little piece of a stitch. Here's hoping its something simple like that for you, Carol. Guest guest
Just my opinion, but in the ER we usually flush with a saline solution, very inexpensive and helps to clean the wound without irritation also can help to dry out and get the healing process started.... sometimes too much antibiotic creme can make matters worse. I have known people to develope a sensitivity to the topical products in cases like this... you can get the saline solution at any drug store, in the first aid section.. even cheeper in the eye care area, where saline is bottled for washing contact lenses... it is usually much cheeper in that area and virtually the same as what is in the first aid area.
