Guest guest
Hi, My name is Lizzie. I don't think I have posted yet, but I have been learning a lot and enjoyed reading the posts. I make cp soap and only scent with essential oils. I have 2 questions. Which eo's can I use to get a autumn/ holiday feel for my soaps? I tried cassia ( only a little since I know it can be irritating) and orange yesterday, but I am not really loving it. I just read on a site that a woman was using apple eo. I thought that was a fo, but now I am wondering. Also, is there a vanilla eo? I can't decide if the cassia orange would do well with a vanilla-y addition or patchouli (which I always add when in doubt since I love it.) My second question is, can anyone recommend a good aromatherapy book? I have a few, but none that I am impressed with. And, many contradict each other, which confuses me. I would love to learn more about aromatherapy which is why I joined this group. Thanks, Lizzie Lizzie's Kitchen Made Soap

The absolute doesn't dissolve easily in carrier oil, the CO2 does. for an 'autumn' blend... we offer an autumn sunshine synergy...it contains Birch Tar, Galbanum, Atlas Cedar, Black Spruce and Oakmoss... (not in that order that might be a starting point. I'd not use cassia in any 'on the skin' product, even soap, even tho I love the scent I save it for blends for the aroma lamp. if you really need the cinnamon/cassia note, cinnamon LEAF is not a sensitizer, as are cassia and cinnamon bark. >My second question is, can anyone recommend a good aromatherapy book? >I have a few, but none that I am impressed with. You will hear other recommendations, I'm certain, but one of my favorite beginner books is " A Guide to Vibrant Health and Beauty " by Roberta Wilson.... the original was published in the early 90's... there is a second edition that is vastly expanded...good stuff. Great profiles on individual oils, as well as suggested blends using each for a wide range of applications. Celebrating 10 years online.
