Guest guest
Hi Tracy, > Well that is a first I have ever heard that. I am so happy to have been able to give you new (correct) information. That is one of the reasons for this list. ;-) > I have been searching on the net with many reputable companies and > the citrus oils are all cold pressed. I cant find a steam distilled > anywhere. Sorry bout that .. there are MANY companies offering distilled citrus .. it has been so for all the years I have been in this business. There are people on this list offering them. You are looking in the wrong places methinks. > So what do you consider the cold pressed citrus eo's? What do you > call them? If they are not essential oils then what are they? CP oils .. not Essential Oils. Same goes for Absolutes. > This just doesnt make sense to me. On one hand, I have you saying, > they arent essential oils and on the other hand I have a huge industry > which includes many many reputable companies, aromatherapists, doctors > etc etc saying they are??? I am having a bit of a hard time with this, > can you tell :-)) Yep .. I can tell. But I am not surprised. Just this week I had to explain to a very well known writer/researcher/aromatherapist/doctor that what he was calling Chemotype was in fact, Type .. that there were no Chemotypes in the particular species he was referring to. Say the wrong thing long enough (especially if folks think you have all the answers) and it becomes doctrine .. incorrect doctrine it is .. misinformation it is. And the reasons are the same as those I had in my original post: > We have no chiseled in stone standards in AT and the terminology is > often manipulated in order to hype low quality products. In any > industry there should be an agreed upon lexicon .. but we have none > in the AT/EO industry. A turtle is not a terrapin .. a tomato is not a vegetable .. bananas do not grow on trees, and this and that .. but folks often call them as being so. I suppose there is no real problem with all of these inaccuracies .. unless we are taking a test. ;-) There is far more incorrect information in this industry than correct information .. that is why we have lists like this .. and I reckon this applies to life in general. > Tracy Tappin (BC Canada) > Goat's Milk Skin Care http://www.goatmilkskincare.com > CAE Tested and CL Free LaMancha Dairy Goat's Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com >>>>My opinion and the opinion of many others in the industry is .. >>>>Cold Pressed or Expeller Pressed oils are just that .. not >>>>Essential Oils.
