Guest guest
Last week we let the alligator lizard go and everyone cried... The same day they found a Tarantula, a she-bee of course. It's now residing in the tank... Tonight? Oh you gonna LOVE tonight... Mummy! We found a gardener snake... Mummy looks in... T'werent no Gardener Snake, no Grass Snake, it was a baby rattle snake. The rattles were almost too little to see and that sucker was about a foot long. I stretched him out, let everyone get a good look, let him coil and shake his tail .. real GOOD! Made sure they knew that the venom in the little suckers was more concentrated and more poisionous than the big guys, then locked them in the house while I took him back to hims wittle home on the " Mountain " (a big ole hill) GIRLS! The boys don't do this to me... they do dumb stuff like stick things in electrical sockets, I can live with that... >SIGH!< I'm too damn old for this. One of these days they're going to bring something home that Creeps me out and THEN we're in a world of hurt, cuz have you noticed the word DADDY here in this yere little story. There's a reason for that! ROFLMAO! K -- Cheers! Kathleen Petrides The Woobey Queen Http://www.woobeyworld.com

Guest guest
Dearest Woobey and Ravenstone, May I say you wimmens have some guts!!! I am one tough cookie, but I REFUSE to handle snakes! <shiver!> I have a serious phobia of the slithering things! Makes me have the full body shivers just thinking about it!! Seriously, I've had a copperhead and a water mocassin come in too close of a proximity to me, and I absolutely HATE snakes. GRRR! LOL My hubby on the other hand enjoys playing with them, before he kills them. Then he puts them on sticks so the birds can eat them. <YUCK!> I actually killed a snake a couple of weeks ago...and didn't know it until I ran back around that side of the yard with the lawn tractor! Chopped his little head off. I still got the shivers, and he was dead! Ya'll have fun with those young'uns and their 'finds'. Guest guest
Snakes have never bothered me... Slugs on the other hand and crunching on snails at night, gives me the horrors... and I really hate the little spiders, I try not to kill 'em (unless they're poisonous) but they really creep me out! Guest guest
As a child I played with snakes all the time - you find your pets where you can on the farm. Since they knew I wouldn't stay away from them, my grand father taught me early on the safest way to pick up a snake. I've often heard the story of how as a 4 year old, I came out of the barn, holding the head of a 4 foot milk snake over my head and yelling " Look Grandpa, just like you showed me ! Guest guest
we moved out of snake country a while ago (thunk thunk what was that under my mtn bike wheels? ... a rattler!) and after a stint in spider country (black widows AND hobo spiders which are not supposed to exist in the same area, but there they were one on my wall and one under the fridge) ... we are now in URBAN DEER COUNTRY. LOL. Our area is exploding in human growth, a small town smack in the middle of Oregon, but aparently we even WalMart can't shake the Bend, OR deer population ... the deer just walk down the sidewalks and use crosswalks like anyone else. it's pretty amazing. the other night walking our dog, four deer were just crossing the road and trotted down the sidewalk. the little girls playing hopscotch were eating their heads as the deer just casully passed by to the next grassy lot (i guess they haven't figured out the appeal of hopscotch yet). this morning my husband saw a deer using the pedestrian tunnel under the hwy about two blocks from our apt. our daughter is only 3 but hopefully she won't be bringing any deer into the house!!! - " paula coon " <paulacoon Saturday, October 01, 2005 7:56 AM Re: KIDS! Guest guest
Wolf spiders DO bite, howsomeever, they're not a dangerous spider. One can get inflamed bits but they're nothing compared to the Widow, the Recluse, the Fiddle back or the Brown Recluse. More in the line of a nasty wasp sting (the only comparison I can come up with.
