Guest guest
I woke up this morning at 4:25AM to the cat bugging me (nothing new) and I noticed my sinuses were felling a tinge funky. I did nothing and went back to bed after letting the cat out. Well just 2 hours later when I got up for the day for real my sinuses were KILLING me. One side stuffed up and painful! So now I am doing the Weleda Echinacea compound thing with a touch of Goldenseal added, lots of vitamin C and sniffing a blend of Rosemary, Sage, Oregano, Eucalyptus, Peppermint and Lemon Myrtle. I figured I'd mention this to get folks sharing what they do for stuffy sinus season (which is obviously on the way *Smile* Chris (list mom) LAST DAYS of the Vanilla Bean Blow Out & Cranberry and Raspberry Seed Oils Buy <http://www.aftertherayne.com/supplies.htm> http://www.aftertherayne.com/supplies.htm Think left and think right and think low and think high. Guest guest
Sorry to hear about your sinuses. Here's some things that might help. Sinus Relief Bath: 4 drops each of eucalyptus, peppermint and lavender Fill tub with very warm water. Close the bathroom door and add essential oils. Swish with hand immediately before getting in. Sinusitis Steam Inhalation 3 drops rosemary 1 drop each of thyme and peppermint 4 cups boiling water Add boiling water to bowl. Add essential oils to bowl. Put a towel over the bowl being sure to inhale the steam. Keep your eyes closed. Inhale 10 minutes. Allergies such as hay fever will often cause sinusitis.A little Lavender gently massaged into the sinuses at either side of the nose will help to clear the condition. Be sure to dilute in a carrier oil To help clear clogged sinuses and add some herbal energy to your morning shower, try the following. Put between 3 and 5 drops of eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus) essential oil onto a washcloth and lay it on the floor of your shower. Shut the shower or bathroom door tightly for maximum steam retention. As the hot water reaches the washcloth it will release aromatic steam into your bathroom. Rejuvenating bath: This bath will aid in sinus relief and cold symptoms, increase metabolism and ease muscular pain. It is a very rejuvenating bath. 1/2 cup each of yarrow flowers, elder flowers, mint leaves and rose petals. Place in a cheesecloth or nylon bundle and let seep in the bath for a few minutes and enjoy. The bundle can be used to gently scrub the body as well. Also, prepare a hot infusion of Chamomile, yarrow flowers, elder flowers and mint leaves to drink while in the bath. Guest guest
Hi Chris, I find what works best is to make Mullein tea (it helps drain lymphatic systems in the head, also good for swollen glands) and drop a drop of peppermint eo in it while super hot - Make a tent with your hand and breathe in the fumes until the tea cools down - and then drink it. Guest guest
Hey Chris, Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. It must really be going around. I've seen a lot of people with it and, as Traci can tell you, I've had a sore throat for a few days. I sound like I swallowed a frog. *smile* or should it be *ribbit* That's a great blend you have put together there. Can I ask how you are using the olfactory method of inhalation? On a Kleenex, from the bottle or did you make an inhaler? Are you using Sage Dalmation or Clary Sage? I've been using the inhaler I give my patients and customers and it's really helped me to keep the stuffiness and headache down. Do you have Cypress and Pine Needle EO's? If you do, try adding a few drops of each to your blend and see if it helps even more. Get rest and I hope you feel better. Guest guest
Well, for an " on the go " bit of help... zapp together a Woobey with Rosemary and Eucalyptus, heat up the sucker, slap it on your face and breathe deep. No mess, no fuss, and quick. I've been told the heat REALLY feels good. Lot of that going on around here too. Folk are just MISERABLE! Guest guest
Hi Chris, Long time Australian lurker Holly here :oP I always reach for a Pokeroot preparation for sinus problems. I discovered it a couple of years ago, an Australian eo company produces a Pokeroot ointment as a remedy for sinus probs. It helps clear the sinuses along with dealing with the associated pain. Have found it successful. I, however, remember reading that Pokeroot is considered a noxious weed in the US...? Warm regards Holly On 30/09/05, Christine Ziegler <chrisziggy wrote: > > I woke up this morning at 4:25AM to the cat bugging me (nothing new) and > I noticed my sinuses were felling a tinge funky. Guest guest
Hi Chris, Hope you are feeling better already! Your EO mix sounds great, but I would certainly add niaouli EO. I think it a great sinus congestion reliever! Love, Saskia
