Guest guest
Hi folks, Jut a quick update on us here in the Houston area .. we WERE planning on evacuating to areas north of Dallas, but due to absolutely INSANE traffic, we're hunkering down here at home in Sugar Land. We left early this morning and discovered that it is basically impossible to get out of this town. All roads are a parking lot and there is little to no gasoline to be found. When we left the news was reporting that what is normally a 5 hr drive to Dallas had become a 36 hr + drive and we found that the roads were crawling at less than 2 mph, and Dallas is 200 miles from here - so really that would make it a 100 hr drive (and all reports said the roads were this packed all the way to Dallas or west to Austin or San Antonio, or even south bound ...) There are many folks getting stuck on those roads and its turning into quite a scary situation for them now! The good news is that the storm has weakened some and is now anticipated to hit east of here near the TX, LA border and that means we'll be on the west side, which isn't as bad as being on the east side. We're no longer forecasted to get 110+ mph winds, more like up to 90 mph winds. This is the last message I'll send out until after the storm and after the power is back. My friend staying with us has a Blackberry, so I'll do my best to contact at least someone after the storm via e-mail to let them know we're ok here Safe wishes to all in this area! *Smile* Chris (list mom) Think left and think right and think low and think high.
