Hey Veronica,

RIGHT! But....the topic was being discussed there. I was one of the first

people to say something to one of the posts that what written on neat use of

eo's. It wasn't lengthy, but rather short and sweet.

And... when someone like Martin is on a list like that it's only because he

cares about the correct information on eo's and their safe use. He cares

too much perhaps, so he took his precious time to let some others know and

got bashed for it.

And that is what I thought also, that the supply review list was a place to

say good supplier, kudos or whatever, or a place to say " I had a bad

experience " be careful dealing with so & so. It has been that and more to

say the least!

Margaret

ps. This is probably the LAST place where you would be attacked. Opinions

are shared, sure, and some folks are brought out of the dark into the light,

but really there is no attacking. :)

Hi Selene,

There are no dumb questions. :) Just questions, that's how we learn right.

You are correct with the above about eo and fo.

Eo's are natural steam distilled volatile oils of plants, woods, flowers,

etc....

Fo's are synthetic fragrances.

You must be careful using both imo. There are lot's of issues with skin

irritation and sensitisation with eo's and anyone using them should have

Martin Watts book " Plant Aromatics " it has the dilution rates for eo's that

can be used in creams and perfumes.

Fragrance oils can be irritating and sensitizing too, but it's a bit

different.

They both can be used for scenting soaps and toileties. Eo's are what's

used in aromatherapy.

I'd say no to the using them interchangably in recipes, since you can use

fo's at a higher percent than most eo's.

Yes, people have and do become sensitized to both fo's and eo's. They

neither one should be used on the skin straight out of the bottle or " neat " .

They both would need to be diluted in a base oil, base lotion or some sort

of base.

This is really the short version of it. I'm sure a quick search of the

archives will give you lots of posts from the more educated and informed

folks like Chris, Butch and Martin on this topic.

hth,

Margaret
