soap molds

Starting out with cold process or hot process soap, you'll probably want to

use a box as a mold. These need to be insulated during the first 24-36 hours

(some may say more, some may say less :-) or they will get a chalky texture

on the edges from cooling to fast. As you get a feel for it, you can move

into the fancy molds.

Also - no matter how tempting, don't use anything made out of aluminum as a

mold! Wood, glass, plastic.... yes. I saw an aluminum baking pan that

someone used as a mold once. Looked like it was used as a target for a

shotgun.
