Where are you ? We have cougars too ! A mother & young one were seen and

photographed less than a mile from where I'm sitting - almost in my back yard.

I've heard stories since I was about 5 about the 'large cats' that were

occasionally seen but most people said there weren't any large cats in Michigan,

and the farmers that claimed to see them (in or near the swampy edge of the

river) 'must have been in the sun too long'. Well, too many people have seen

them now and they have made casts of the foot prints, gathered samples of their

dropping adn the cats have been photographed by a few people. But that probably

isn't enough proof for some people.

FIre Chief handles two townships and a village..... Police Chief handles

the same territory and also chases the local cougar.

 

THis amazing cat showed itself to our Township Supervisor one morning last

week.

 

No postal delivery in the village, folks have POBoxes..... us'uns out on the

other side of the tracks are luck yin that we get mail delivered down by the

road.

 

We do have a feed and grain elevator with small hardware store but no

dentist, lawyer, accountant, they left long ago..... we do have a parttime doc,

once in a while.

 

The supermarket burned down, again, about five years ago.... the party store

ddid move over some junk food to provide some basic provisions.
