I lived in a town smaller than that when I lived in Ky - we didn't have any traffic lights except the blinking red & amber one at the corner of the main street. The 'post office' was a tiny bit of counter space at the only store and the fire chief was also the chief of police. The town closest to me now doesn't deliver mail to your house if you live in 'town' - you have to have a PO box and the only light in Ida is a red blinker a tithe 4 way stop Paula .......... in Michigan .. ..>>> And, I live near a small village in Michigan with no traffic light, but we do now have a blinker light. FIre Chief handles two townships and a village..... Police Chief handles the same territory and also chases the local cougar. THis amazing cat showed itself to our Township Supervisor one morning last week. No postal delivery in the village, folks have POBoxes..... us'uns out on the other side of the tracks are luck yin that we get mail delivered down by the road. We do have a feed and grain elevator with small hardware store but no dentist, lawyer, accountant, they left long ago..... we do have a parttime doc, once in a while. The supermarket burned down, again, about five years ago.... the party store ddid move over some junk food to provide some basic provisions. mjh " The Basil Book " http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/

Sounds almost like the town my stepdaughter lives in in GA.. ( Except they still shave heads if the kids get lice! Even the little girls!! ) I wondered up and down the " main street " wondering what people did there...Nothing they drove 60 miles to the NEXT town for something to do! ( I kept expecting to hear Deliverance drifting by on the wind though!) )) Michelle
