Guest guest
I would like to first send good wishes to everyone who has been suffering as a result of the events around Katrina. For those who have been directly affected by the storm and for those for whom the storm has stirred up discomfort, I hope your healing continues. Many of us in Canada are also thinking of our southern neighbours and we hope to continue to support the recovery efforts. I would like to ask advice on a reaction I have had recently while working with EOs. I get a furry/dry feeling on the roof of my mouth when making oil blends. My sinuses also get stuffy and it feels like I need to clear something (through mucous production). It lasts for hours and is not relieved by drinking water. I took a break for a few weeks and it did not occur in that time. I had my friend smell a few oils a few days ago (drops on a wet Q-tip because I did not have scent strips; Lavender, Clary Sage, Lemon Tea Tree, Geranium), and it happened again. I think it occurs primarily with lavender oil, but has happened strongly when I poured out a bottle of synthetic fragrance (wishful thinking - trying to reuse the bottle). I work with the windows and balcony door open, and turn a fan on if the air is still. Could you please share your experiences/advice? Is it possible sensitization (though this does not usually happen through inhalation)? Should I be working differently with the oils? Thanks very much in advance, Doris
Guest guest
Hi Doris, If this is an allergic reaction, there are some acupressure/energetic techniques you could try... I'd be happy to talk with you about them... but they can require daily self-care for about 30 consecutive days to get the new, non-allergic pattern to take hold. Alternatively, you could see a homeopath who may be able to create homeopathic remedies out of the oils. You'd bring the oils with you. Are there any oils that you can work with without getting this reaction? -Josh >I would like to ask advice on a reaction I have had recently while >working with EOs. Guest guest
Thanks, Josh. It's good to know that there are alternatives to address this. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and whether this really is an allergic reaction or ???? I seem to be okay with eucalyptus and tea tree, but I'm going to go through my oils tomorrow to see if it is specific oils. Is it possible to have overexposure to e.o.s? Guest guest
Doris maybe you should do a few a day. Smelling all of them at one time could be dangerous for you. Doing just a couple, you'd be able to narrow it down to exactly which ones. And you'll save your nose!! Julia Graber Girl By Julia
