Guest guest
the Humane Society of the United States is sending help. It says the best way anyone can help is by making a donation. Send it to the Humane Society of the United States Disaster Relief Fund, 2100 L St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20037, or log on to www.hsus.org and click on the Disaster Relief Fund link (http://securehsus.org/01/katrina__re lief/nVdaHI-519RtL ). You can also call 888-259-5431. Donations may also be made to the Mississippi Animal Rescue League at www.msarl.org by clicking on the GuideStar link or mailing it to 4395 South Dr., Jackson, MS 39209. It has set up the only pet-friendly shelter in the region, director Aileene Maldonado said. On Wednesday, it had 150 animals, including horses, goats and pot-bellied pigs. The Humane Society of the United States is organizing what's probably its biggest relief effort ever. A team of about 100 highly trained individuals has been assembled, said Melissa Seide-Rubin, who heads up the society's field and disaster relief services. She's fearful of what will be found, she said. For instance, it has long been known that people who can't take their pets to an evacuation center may refuse to leave. In Biloxi, Charles Parfait's family and its two dogs wound up in the attic where a 5-year-old girl had to be lashed to the rafters, according to the Biloxi Sun Herald. The family didn't evacuate because the dogs couldn't go to a shelter. Also on its way is the HSUS Disaster Response Unit, a four-wheel drive truck and 38-foot air-conditioned trailer equipped with rescue, sheltering and communications gear as well as pet food and supplies. http://naturalperfumery.com The premier site on the Web to discover the beauty of Natural Perfume " The Age of the Foodie is passé.
