Peach Recipes

We get peaches from the valley next door,

one mountain range to the West.

A three or four hour trip.

Same latitude, but the rain shadow of the

Coast Mountains gives the Okanagan

a much warmer, drier climate.

The farmer's market features a woman

who brings over organic produce from that

region. We are so lucky!

Hey y'all,

Fancy stuff I won't do .. can't do .. but I love peaches. They are also

in full season here in Turkey now .. some are the size of a softball and

cheaper'n dirt .. and there's a green grocer just beside my home .. so I

get a kilo or so every few days.

I slabbed a kilo or so 2 days ago .. poured a half liter of Puerto Rican

Rum over'em .. added a tad or three of Malibu .. and shook a fair amount

of cinnamon into the mix. I snack on those rascals throughout the day.

Finer'n frog hair split three ways .. makes me grin a lot. :-P

Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com

Oh I am so glad to hear this news because my son loves his pumpkin pie.

this could be a nice alternative to try for him.

Have to find ways to send it to him a college though. USA does not

want us to send food items anymore. Not even cookies.

WAWAWAWA...he loves my cookies....WAWAWAWA what is a mom to do?

You mean, you cannot send food items in the US mail???

Can you lie about it?

wow that's the first I heard about not being allowed to ship food. My husband

works for the USPS I'll have to ask him about that when he gets home.

He did say that yes it is true that if you ship glass and it breaks that the

USPS will not pay to replace it. They toss those boxes into bins and no

matter what you write on them they don't care. They have time restraints and

can't be bothered to take care of a fragile package. They lob those things back

and forth like foot balls.

Just remember that is from Canada to the USA. I even asked at the

border when we crossed and they looked at me as if I was insane to even

think I could send food stuffs over the border. (you know the look over

the glasses with a ...gee you a dumb blonder or what look)

You can apply for a permit to send food over the border ... it applies

to commercially made products, not homemade ones (silly, eh?)

here's the link for more information

I made a peach salsa last night and served it over grilled

mahi-mahi. I roasted a green bell pepper over the flame on

my stove and peeled off the charred skin, removed the seeds

and chopped it coarsely. I pitted and peeled a peach. I

chopped up the pepper and peach in the food processor and

then added a small tomato and some fresh basil and

processed it a little bit more then added a splash of rice

wine vinegar and a pinch of salt. I sauteed the salsa a

couple of minutes before serving it over the fish.
