when we lived in New England and I could buy GREEN macintosh apples (the

best apple in the world for pies or sauce!) I used to do that.... freeze

the filling in a plastic lined pie plate... make the fresh pastry when I

needed a fresh baked pie.

Ah! Green Mac Intosh! Fantastic. My great aunt used to say that a

Spitzenburg apple was the only one worth the fuss to make a pie with!
