if you KNOW the specific gravity of the oil you are measuring, it can be done.

 

to find out how many ml are in a kilogram, the formula is:

 

ml = grams divided by specific gravity.

 

so:

 

in the case of, let's say our Rose Geranium which has a specific gravity of

0.914 the formula would be:

 

(remember that one kilogram would have 1000 grams!)

 

ml = 1000/0.914 = 1094.092 mls

 

which (using the handydandy desktop converter program downloaded from

http://www.joshmadison.com/software/ which I wouldn't be without!) equals

36.9924 fluid ounces per kilogram.

 

(on the Convert program you use VOLUME to convert from liters or ml to

fluid ounces, and MASS to convert from kilos to ounces.)

 

It took me a long time to wrap my brain around the above concept...but we

use it every time we bring in a new oil, since some suppliers sell by kilo

and/or pound, and others by volume, either liters or pints, quarts,

etc. so the " specificgrav.xls " spreadsheet gets used a lot...as does the

Convert program.
