OT: Critters in the bed?

This morning on " Good Morning America, " there was a segment on bedbugs. It

appears that they are a real problem these days in hotels (even the " good " ones)

and homes. The pest control people (in New York, anyway) say the " threat " has

tripled this past year. This could be a problem when traveling, as critters

could get in the suitcase and travel with you, thus spreading the problem. The

little vampires can consume up to 6 times their weight.

 

What can someone do to protect themselves? They said to have the problem

professionally treated. I have seen a recommendation to sprinkle neat lavender

oil on the bed as a deterrent to the critters. Does this really work? Or a blend

of something else?

your post made me go look up bed bugs. yuck!!!! I am a little

more than grossed out as I think of the hotel that I just stayed in!!!

I am looking forward to hearing the answer now too!!
