Advice, help, ideas... welcome! >Thanks so much! in THEORY there are 20 drops to one ml. however, that truly depends on the dropper used, and the viscosity of the oil. re pricing... try measuring by mls, then you can calculate your COST per ml. as long as you use the same measures every time, you'll be accurate. Guest guest
Hi Mary .. other good folks .. > It would depend entirely on the specific gravity of the essential oil. I > would suspect that that conversion would work for water only? You are perzackly correct. Water has been assigned a factor of " 1 " .. every other liquid (including sea water) will be a plus or minus " 1 " . A liter of water weighs exactly one kilogram .. but that can't be said for any other liquid. Density is the key. And .. of course .. the size of the dropper (or drops) will vary. What will drive the train more on pricing is the initial cost of the product .. any overhead costs for running a business .. and the prices charged by competitors. If someone is able to price their products based on drops then they are really ahead of most other folks. But .. they are possibly basing their pricing on faulty information. Often folks ask me a similar question .. they ask how many milliliters are in a gram .. or in 4 ounces. There is no exact answer on the gram unless we calculate the density .. as for the ounces .. it will depend on what kind of ounces we are talking about .. one is weight and the other is volume. 1 fluid ounce .. equals 29.573 milliliters .. this is volume 1 avoir ounce .. equals 28.35 grams ......... this is weight If we remember that a fluid ounce of water and a fluid ounce of molten lead will fill exactly the same space .. but the molten lead might weigh 25 or so times more than the water .. we're on the way to thinking about density and the need to know it if we want to split hairs. I don't think we need to split hairs .. the more precise we get in such matters the more opportunity we have to make a mistake .. and the more time we are going to put in. Folks have to consider their time when they figure costs .. that is .. unless they want to operate an expensive hobby. ;-) > Mary > Well, Naturally Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.comn >>Sorry about that....I sent it without all the information >>1 milliliter = 15.41963 drops >> >>>I have a converter that has 1 oz = 456 drops and 1 drop =0.00219292 oz. >>>I know this converter isn't talking about essential oils...but maybe it is >>>close enough for you to work with. >>>Zo
