Guest guest
Does anyone here have the link to, or study done several years back in Japan where they put Lemon EO in the air vents in work places and saw results in concentration and all that? I can't find it anywhere and know I used to have it, but ... Thanks! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
Hi Chris I " thought " I had this, but cant find it either - the only thing I can recall is that it is quoted in V A Worwoods The Fragrant Mind (or Pharmacy - can't remember which). Will have a look later and see if there is a reference for it quoted in the book. Guest guest
The Magazine article, if it is the same one I read was about Advertising, Marketing, Shopping Malls and Consumer sensory reception and response to Aromas. The article cites how the effects of Aroma can subtly, yet significantly, on a subconscious level affect consumer spending habits. Yes, oils were infused via the air ducts. The study was done by the Japenese. The articles emphasis was that scent has been a grossly overlooked marketing technique. It was shown that scent can effectively be used to promote relaxation, a sense of well being, and relieve stress. Thus, the consumer will have a tendency to be less hurried and purchase more products. I have the magazine somewhere and will see if I can find it. If I recall correctly, Lemon was mentioned as among the most effective. Guest guest
I wish I could find a particular article, too... it was about experiments with diffusing scents in retail settings. In one experiment, they diffused vanilla in Women's and maroc in the Men's sections... receipts doubled... then they reversed the oils, and didn't have the same success. So the point is that scents have to match the context and the folks in the context. The article talked about how this can be a problem for international businesses (like hotel chains) since certain scents may seem good to members of one culture and not so much to members of others. Apparently designing a universal blend isn't so easy ;-) Oh, and I remember something about an electronics chain commissioning a designer fragrance, " the smell of technology " , to diffuse <laugh> -Josh
