Not sure about other winerys, but I tested from Fall Creek and at the time I was there I purchased some ... can't imagine them going back from wet to dry. There's also Llano Estacado up around Lubbock ... maybe that's in a dry county. Never went to the one around Kyle. We have a winery over here in Bryan, it's called Messina Hof -- has a very nice port. Edge is about 17 miles northeast of Bryan, Texas -- in the northern most part of Brazos County. Sometimes you can find it on a map -- but it no longer has its own zip code. Used to, but the local post office shut down quite some time ago. Guest guest Posted August 12, 2005 Report Share Posted August 12, 2005 I used to work for Stuart Anderson's Black Angus Rest. across from Capital Plaza and at Night Hawk, we did a wine tour, it was north east of Austin and I think in Hays county. There were 3-4 winerys in Tex. at that time, you named 2 of those Fall Creek and Llano Estacado, I actually passed that one on my way to Colorado, didn't stop though. I haven't been back to Texas in about 10 years now. I worked in Richarson Tx for a while it's kinda crazy about wet and dry counties, that was dry but you could buy a membership for $5. and be able to get a drink, my brother-in-law said that when he used to fly from Ca. to New Orleans as they flew across Texas the stewardesses would come by and take alcoholic drinks as the flew over dry counties, she must have been a busy lady. Guest guest Posted August 12, 2005 Report Share Posted August 12, 2005 Wow, Dede! When did you graduate? I graduated from McCallum in 1966 and DH graduated from Austin High in 1965. Austin has really changed from those days. This part of Llano county is not dry ... we can purchase the Fall Creek wine in the grocery stores. Kingsland is a local dry community. There are wineries all over this area of the state - one can plan a marvelous vacation around the festivals, scenery and wine tasting. AND ... I know where Edge is!!!!
