Guest guest
Josh (and everyone ) ....I totally understand where you're at with the emulsifier thing--I started there, too. Then, I realized why more people make soap than lotions & creams! For the first time in my life, I actually saw a NEED to have paid attention in algebra classes!...LOL. There's some really good info in the files about HLB--read it--KNOW it--it will make your life a much easier thing, my friend! Once I began to understand the whole HLB thing, it made more sence to me--why to use a particular ingredient(s) over others. My lotions & creams actually WORK now--without re-batching as was in the beginning. Making soaps also helped me put some of the 'pieces' together, as well. I know you prefer not to use borax--do you feel the same way over boric acid? I'm finding it's indespencible in making my creme soaps. I prefer not to be using both forms of lye at the same time---cripes, I have hard enough time with just the one type! About cleaning stick blenders: I have an old toothbrush that sits in a jar at my kitchen sink---running that puppy around the underneath part under the blade usually gets any gunk that doesn't want to 'let go', out, and down the drain pretty well. Often I don't have the time to clean the stick blender before my soap etc...dries, so the toothbrush is pretty manditory! Just watch out for 'spraying' yourself in the face as you run it around the base of the blender....don't ask me how I know about this....a-hem. Now, for my news: I've been doing our small saturday mkt each week and one of the other vendors has been using my body creme for her excema. It's healing up--and her dr is very impressed--told her to keep using it as it's working where rx's haven't. Well, yesterday I got a call from one of her co-workers, who wants cream for her daughter who has it so bad--she's suffering pretty badly. Long story short: I've got a good order for this sat--and doing a special shampoo for her daughter---and this gal works for the head of the 'alternative medicine' department at Kaiser Permanemte---said to be ready--I might be getting contacted again about my products by her boss wanting them for the patients! WOW---wouldn't that be great! ....ok--just had to share that one! I'm actually a bit scared---you know, the 'fear of success' thing...,grin. goody

Guest guest
Congrats Goody, Isn't it wonderful when things like this happen. I had it happen with one of my creams as well.
