The stuff I use is Oleic acid <supposed to be from Olive oil) and polysorbate..from a sugar source...forgot which one at the moment.... If you don't want to use a vegan steric that is hydrogenated, you wouldn't wanna use e-wax either. Buuuuut, it makes fab emulsions!! To each his own. Oh...haven't ever seen bayberry wax used anywhere except candles. That stuff is HARD! (and brittle) Now, stick blenders. Cleaning immediately after use in water like recommened by the gals works great, but if you are not of that mind, and have a few bucks laying about, try a " Bamix " stick blender. They are pricey but they LAST and the head components come apart for easy washing. Mine is well over 10 years old and I use it to death...well, almost to death since it still works ;p Marian
Guest guest
Hi Marian, Yeah, I'm doing my best to stay away from the whole polysorbate family. :-) I'm considering carnauba and bayberry waxes as potential replacements for beeswax... but perhaps I won't need any wax. *Most* all of the other vegetable waxes I've seen are either hydrogenated or processed with solvents. Thanks for the stick blender recommendation -Josh
Guest guest
I have never sampled bayberry wax, but carnuba wax is for lipbalms/chapsticks - not for creams and lotions I believe. It's too hard and quite brittle, works wonders to polish up a Harley (my bil uses it), but on the body or face? I would stick to small amounts of beeswax, if it's any wax you wanna use.
