Guest guest
At least this cream is so much nicer feeling on my hands than the last... who can say if it's the oils, the glycerin, or proportions, but it's much more of a " hydrated " feel... now if only it were 70% water I think I'd be about where I'd like to be! Any idea what the problem was? -Josh _____________________ Hi Josh, I'm kinda jumping in here...sorry. But to answer a couple questions. Meadowfoam seed oil. Love the stuff! It provides a wonderful *soft* feeling to anything it's added to. 1-5% makes a noticeable addition. Use it WITH the same amount of emu oil and wow, a great thing is born!!! I use it (Meadowfoam) in lotion, soap, creams and body butters and salves. As for *hydrating*, to me that means you have to have water in the lotion/cream. If you apply a salve or balm RIGHT after washing (and not totally drying off), it does a fantastic job of holding that water in. If not doing that, well, the only way you are gonna " hydrate " is to use something with water properties. Lotions with aloe/water/hydrosols..whatever will do this. To ME, when I make products, lotions use 70-85% water type ingredients. Creams are just about anything less. Salves, balms and butter...no water. Your oils combo in your new formula sounds right on. Now, I am likely going up a path you don't wanna go, but I am not overly fond of the feel of a beeswax cream. I usually use borax to help hold the beeswax emulsification when using more water. I like good old vegetable e-wax. Not a *purist* thing in some minds, but it is natural and it does work very well IMO. So, I cannot help you with the beeswax adjustment, but I can help if you are willing to use e-wax alone or with vegetable steric acid. There are a TON of various oils and butters out there that can make a great *hydrating* cream without a whole lot of fuss...it just depends on what you want and how you want to make it.
