OT : Translation help please/SOS Homeopathie rapport 050803

Hi all

 

As we have a large international membership I wonder if anyone can translate

the following for me? I get the " gist " of it - but do not remember (just

now!) signing anything (???) about homeopathy - esp in a language that

doesn't come naturally to me.....

Notre Ministre Demotte a réagi pour la première fois, suite au poids des

milliers de signatures. Il aurait envoyé le jeudi 28 juillet 2005 une lettre

apaisante à notre association professionnelle.

Ce mercredi 3 août, nous n'avons toujours pas reçu cette lettre ...

En effet, le Ministre a fait ce jeudi un communiqué de presse, mais selon

celui-ci sa lettre ne répond pas à nos questions bien concrètes.

*Notre action continue donc* jusqu'à ce que nous obtenions des rendez-vous

sûrs avec le Ministre.

 

Pouvons-nous dès lors vous demander de continuer à *distribuer les

formulaires* à vos familles, amis et connaissances?

Vous pouvez également déposer pour signatures quelques formulaires dans des

endroits susceptibles de trouver des partisans à notre initiative, par

example: des magasins vendant des produits naturels et alternatifs, etc.

Onder druk van uw duizenden handtekeningen heeft Minister Demotte voor het

eerst gereageerd: op donderdag 28 juli 2005 zou hij een geruststellende

brief gestuurd hebben naar onze vereniging.

Op woensdag 3 augustus was deze brief echter nog steeds niet toegekomen ...

De Minister heeft die donderdag wel een persmededeling gedaan, maar volgens

deze persmededeling gaat zijn brief niet in op onze concrete vragen.

*Onze actie gaat uiteraard verder* tot we bindende afspraken hebben met de

Minister.

Gosh,

 

This is proof that my Junior High School French classes sure didn't do

much more for me than teach me how to ask a person's name, the time,

where the toilet is and give me the ability to read a basic menu

You gotta love those bilingual countries.

I was about to tackle the French, which I can

do as long as I am allowed to move my lips,

when I noticed the Dutch at the bottom so I could

double-check anything that wasn't clear.

 

Question: which was the original, French or Dutch??

There is some ambiguity here.

The French says they will continue action till they

have a " rendez-vous " , which is just a meeting.

The Flemish/Dutch uses a word (afspraak) that can mean

either a meeting, or an agreement.

The latter made more sense, so I wonder if someone

translated the Dutch into French first.

Under the pressure of your thousands of signatures

Minister Demotte has reacted for the first time:

He claims to have sent a reassuring letter to our

professional organization on Thursday July 28.

This Wednesday August 3 we have still not received

this letter.

 

In fact, the minister did issue a press release that Thursday, (8-4)

but according to this press release his letter does not respond to

any of our very concrete questions.

 

Of course our action continues until we have binding

agreements (or agreement to meet) with the minister.

 

So may we please ask you to continue the distribution

of petition forms to your families, friends and acquaintances?

You may also leave forms in places that are likely to

be sympathetic to our initiative, such as health food

stores.

So now I know (vaguely) what its about - but not how I got involved (unless

I signed something whilst trawling

The Homeopaths in the UK don't seem overly concerned just now, so don't

think its an EU " thing " (?)
