Guest guest
Hi all, Been offline for 2 weeks now, but we did finally buy our first home and everything is packed in here Maybe soon all of those boxes will just magickly unpack themselves? Here is the problem I have. I bought my MIL's 1989 Cadillac after she passed away, so there is alot of sentimental value in this car. A week ago today, I opened the car up to go somewhere and thought I had some sort of electrical fire during the night! There was a white film over everything! Hubby went out & looked at it and said there was no fire, someone had put off a smoke bomb inside my car! Since there are few kids in this area, I told the Fire Marshal and the Police Officer that the only kiddo we even had any contact with was when we asked him to move his basketball goal from out in front of our house. The FM and the PO showed up at his door and as soon as the door opened, the kid says... " I know, your here about that car aren't you? " He didn't do it, but he knew who did So.....in the interest of giving the brats a second chance, the FM and the PO asked us if it would be OK if the boys (aged 15, 13 & 8!) cleaned my car from top to bottom and got it looking like it used to. They did a great job on the outside of the car, and even used a toothbrush on the inside of the car! Problem is, that nasty sulphur smell just won't go away! I have left the windows all rolled down for 5 days now, I can't hardly use the AC because the smoke got into the vents as well, so it smells worse when I use the AC.....course, it is only 101 right now! I have used Febreeze 3 times now, plus the 1 time the kids used it. The floor mats were taken out and shampooed, along with the carpet on the floorboard. I am guessing that the scent is still hanging out in the head liner, along with the bit of carpet that is in the back window. Does anyone know of anything.....natural or not, that will take that stench away? I talked with a car detailing place and the best they can do is yank the carpet and seats and shampoo the carpet, but there is no guarantee that the stench will stay gone I tried charcoal to soak up the smell, but it didn't seem to help much. I don't want to mask the smell, I want to get rid of it!! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Chris Kelly http://www.scentsappeal.net -- Internal Virus Database is out-of-date. Guest guest
I would try zeosote. I'm sure you can find it in a computer search. It is a natural mineral that absorbs odors. I'll see if I can find a source for you. Guest guest
Hi Chris, I'm not sure if this will work on your car but Jeffers has a product called Odormute and it really works on natural odors. You spray it on, let it sit and then rinse it off with water. It removes urine and blood and all sorts of smelly stuff. Since sulphur is a natural thing then maybe the Odormute will work. It's worth a try. I am also so sorry to hear how those kids welcomed you into the neighbor hood. Sally Coming soon !!!!Apples, Woods and Berries ! Guest guest
Try boxes of baking soda. The kind you take the sides off of and put in the fridge or freezer. Three or four boxes. Leave car windows up at night. If that doesn't work, try boiling some water in a large pan, and put vanilla extract in it (a goodly amount - can also put in cinnamon or other spices of choice); while still steaming, put on the floor of the car, shut doors and windows (preferably at night), and should smell a lot better by morning. Be su re to take out pan before going somewhere. Could also put cotton balls with vanilla extract on them in vents and air conditioner outlets for a few days. A few years ago, my daughters were at home late at night (girls were in high school) and I was visiting a neighbor in our apartment complex....girls called me home all a-twitter....they kept hearing " something " hit the front of the apartment. Not " hard " things like rocks, but definitely " something. " I came home and heard the same thing. Couldn't figure it out. I went outside to the side of the apartment, and pretty soon, here came " something " again. I waited some more, and sure enough, here it came again....our apartment is directly across a 6 foot fence from the apartment complex east of us. The 10 year old kid across the fence and an accomplice were opening the door of their apartment and lobbing eggs at my apartment - at midnight!!! I called the police, and an officer came and looked at the front of my apartment, and said, " Sure enough, that's eggs! What do you want to do about it? " I suggested that the culprits get their heinies over here, NOW, and wash off my apartment before the sun hit the icky in the morning and baked it on. Officer thought that was a splendid idea. So he went to the apartment, woke up the mom, and the boys were scrubbing down my apartment at 12:30 a.m.. By golly, they didn't do it again! Keep us posted!
