Guest guest
Hey there, So I made " cheat cream soap " , recipe courtesy of Chris ;-) Basically you get grated soap mushy in warm water & oil, and then blend it till it's creamy. I used a nice unscented, natural soap I got from the co-op, distilled water, and high oleic safflower oil... it came out, but I think I can do better. The two issues are: - not so creamy - the scent I think maybe I needed to have the oil/water mix warmer or grate the soap even finer. Chris, have you ever melted the soap completely? My final product is a bit chunky :-) As for the scent... I used less than 1% peppermint, and yet that is basically what it smells like. Man! The blend wasn't nearly so pepperminty in the cup, but that's all that seems to be left of it after being put in the soap. <laugh> But actually, as I do the math on the numbers (I didn't really plan this out ahead of time:), I see that although peppermint was only 0.9% of the volume of the total product, it accounts for over 10% of the scent blend. Maybe that's the issue. I wonder why it didn't smell very pepperminty before being mixed in with the base. -Josh
Guest guest
Ok, being new perhaps I missed the 'cheat cream soap', or perhaps it was shared privately. I would like to know if this is the kind of soap you use in the bathroom dispensers? Perhaps you could share the recipe? Guest guest
Hi Theresa, The recipe is so easy, there's not more to it than what was in my original email... but it's not a liquidy or lotiony soap, not in the proportions I used. Perhaps it could be if one used more oil & water and less solid soap. Mine has a texture not dissimilar to a body butter. >Ok, being new perhaps I missed the 'cheat cream soap', or perhaps it was >shared privately. Guest guest
Hi Josh, You just need to play with the proportions a little. Add a little more oil add a little more water till it gets to just the right consistency for you. For those who've asked .. pretty much the general guide is - use 1 part each: grated handmade soap, warmed oil of choice, warmed hydrosol of choice ... then you add drops of EO to scent. You pour the warmed oil and EO over your grated soap, let it sit and melt the soap (fully), then you whip it up with an electric mixer. As for the peppermint - a little goes a long way with that stuff <grinz> *Smile* Chris (list mom - not really here right now, just checking in VERY quickly before my mailbox exceeds its limit and starts bouncing messages http://www.alittleolfactory.com On Behalf Of Joshua Alexander Hey there, So I made " cheat cream soap " , recipe courtesy of Chris ;-) Basically you get grated soap mushy in warm water & oil, and then blend it till it's creamy. These directions SHOULD read - pour warmed oil and HYDROSOL over the grated soap, let it sit for awhile and melt the soap, then add your EO and whip it up with an electric mixer. *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
