Guest guest
Hey there, So I made " cheat cream soap " , recipe courtesy of Chris ;-) Basically you get grated soap mushy in warm water & oil, and then blend it till it's creamy. I used a nice unscented, natural soap I got from the co-op, distilled water, and high oleic safflower oil... it came out, but I think I can do better. The two issues are: - not so creamy - the scent I think maybe I needed to have the oil/water mix warmer or grate the soap even finer. Chris, have you ever melted the soap completely? My final product is a bit chunky :-) As for the scent... I used less than 1% peppermint, and yet that is basically what it smells like. Man! The blend wasn't nearly so pepperminty in the cup, but that's all that seems to be left of it after being put in the soap. <laugh> But actually, as I do the math on the numbers (I didn't really plan this out ahead of time:), I see that although peppermint was .9% of the volume of the total product, it accounts for over 10% of the scent blend. Maybe that's the issue. I wonder why it didn't smell very pepperminty before being mixed in with the base. -Josh
