Guest guest
Kathy, another reason your carpet stain may be coming back is because the carpet pad (if you have one) may also have the oil on it. If that's the case, use Dawn to clean it first, then clean your carpet. Good luck! I had a puppy (you'd think I'd remember what that was all about!) and was cleaning spots on my area rugs and carpet pads forEVER!! Guest guest
On this subject, I just purchased a Hoover steamvac and need to shampoo my family room rug. Anyone have recommendations on what to use? I was thinking of using a bottle of Natures Miracle and a scoop of Oxyclean, I do have a dog and altho no urine stains I think the enzymes get out other stains? Thanks, I know I don't want to use the chemicals that came with the machine anne - Kathy Stranc Thursday, July 21, 2005 5:38 PM RE: Carpet Stain Thanks, I'm glad it worked for you. Please don't take this personally. I used to sell Kirby shampooers and I was told one should never use detergent on a carpet. What it does is leave an oily film on the carpet that attracts dirt and makes dark stains return. Detergents have a coconut oil derivative base. SLS or whatever it's called. I used the citrus limonene degreaser on the pad as well as the cover of the carpet backing. The pad has a cover on it so there wasn't much damage to the pad. I do appreciate your feedback, but I would never use Dawn for many reasons. Oh, I just found this informative article on cancer, if anyone is interested. http://www.cancer-prevention.net/ Kat
Guest guest
Anne - I use Oxy Clean whenever I steam clean my carpets . . . they are very very very light tan and are many years old. No stains and still look very nice. I also run over them with a white vinegar/water rinse and find they stay cleaner longer. -Helen On this subject, I just purchased a Hoover steamvac and need to shampoo my family room rug.
