Guest guest
Hi Pat Thanks for this inoformation. I took it and posted it on my group for perfumery, and also did some follow up. BTW, one member said, hey, they could be lying and using synthetics, or using the real thing. Either way, aromatherapy and conservation efforts are being destroyed, I say. Here's what I wrote, and there is contact info here, for those who want to let Colgate know their feelings on this unwise new product: Here is the information, Trudy, to complain about the sandalwood and rosewood in Palmolive Aroma Crème Shower Cream You can call, and write: Colgate Worldwide Contact our nearest office at the local toll free number: Global Consumer Affairs Offices Argentina: 0-810-444-0057 Australia: 1-800-802-307 Austria: 08000-123-965 Belgium: 00-800-321-321-32 (Oral Care Only), 00-800-1-22 11 (Bleach/Soupline/Ajax) Brazil: 0-800-703-7722 Canada: 1-800-268-6757 China: 800-8302238 Colombia: 01-8000-520-800 Costa Rica: 800-COLGATE Denmark: 45-80-60-70-00 Dominican Republic: 1-200-1472 Ecuador: 1-800-895020 El Salvador: 278-1213 France: 0-810-63-27-20 (Household Surface Care/Fabric Care), 0-810-63-45-26 (Oral Care and Body Care) Germany: 0800-725-66-54 Greece: 800-11-25100 Guatemala: 1-801-265-4283 Honduras: 234-3007 Hong Kong: 800-938281 India: 1-600-225599 Ireland: 00-800-321-321-32 Italy: 800-860047 Luxembourg (Oral Care Only): 00-800-321-321-32 Malaysia: 1-800-883-918 Mexico: 01-800-001-1400 Netherlands: 00-800-321-321-32 New Zealand: 0800-441-740 Nicaragua: 269-6244 Norway: 47-800-400-75 Panama: 800-COL2 Philippines: 1-800-1-888-2774 Poland: 0-801-11-66-11 Portugal: 00 800 321 321 32 (Oral Care Only) Puerto Rico: 1-800-443-0602 Singapore: 800-6011-251 South Africa: 0860-114-146 Spain: 00-800-321-321-32 Sweden: 00-90-888-99-57 Switzerland: 00-800-321-321-32 (Oral Care Only) Taiwan: 0800011176 Thailand: 1-800-800-900 Turkey: Pay Line: 0216-519 81 01 UK: 00-800-321-321-32 United States : 1-800-468-6502 Venezuela: 0800-552-62-92 more contact in the US: Consumer Affairs: 1-800-468-6502 Corporate Headquarters: 1-212-310-2000 Write Us Colgate-Palmolive Company 300 Park Avenue New York, NY 10022 to email, you have to go to this page: http://www.colgate.com/app/Colgate/US/Corp/ContactUs.cvsp Here is what i just wrote: You just announced you'll be making this product with sandalwood and rosewood oils. These trees are highly endangered due to deforestation and overharvesting. I will boycott your products if the release of this product goes forward, and urge my friends to boycott. I host a group of almost 600 perfumers and they have been made aware of this ecological disaster you are fostering. I will also be contacting the local media in my city about this. Whomever in your company came up with this environmentally-offensive product should be fired. It's as if Colgate had a new product touting the benefits of baby seal oil on the skin -- offensive and disastrous to that species. I will actively campaign to stop this product. -----------------end of message The Chairman of the Board and CEO is Reuben Mark, and I'll write him also, and phone the headquarters in NYC. Guest guest
If you don't like what a company like this is doing the answer is to not buy ANYTHING that they make and tell everyone you know why. It is called a boycott and can be very effective. This rosewood issue is tied up with major criminal activities in Brazil. That part of Brazil is a lawless place where murder is common and land barons can buy themselves out of trouble. Also slavery is rife on the plantations. Even area judges have been threatened with a bullet in the head if they continue prosecuting murderers who work for the land barons. The use of rosewood oil in aromatherapy, etc. just cannot be separated from these issues. Martin Watt , " Pamela Gardner " <pgardner@a...> wrote: > Thanks for sharing this. Guest guest
Morning Pamela, I did find the info about Sandalwood, Rosewood & Colgate on the web. A friend of mine told me about Google Alerts so I signed up to receive a number of them (essential oils, botanical extracts, aromatherapy, skin care, perfumery). Every day they compile news items from around the world pertaining to your topic of choice & pass them on to you. Keeps be up-to-date on information I wouldn't normally have access to. Thanks Anya for taking the time to provide us all with that invaluable information and getting the ball rolling. I will be passing it on to my contacts as well. Still, I fired off a note to the CS of Colgate last friday, and I realize they should have replied to me by now! I got the " only in India " info when I called Tuesday. Hope they reply in writing, love to see what they say. http://naturalperfumery.com The premier site on the Web to discover the beauty of Natural Perfume " The Age of the Foodie is passé.
