Colgate Palmolive launches aroma liquid soap range 7/15/2005

12:13:48 PM IST

Colgate Palmolive India on Thursday announced the launch of new Palmolive

Aroma Crème Shower Cream, a new way to indulge your skin and senses. New

Palmolive Aroma Crème is available in two variants, Exotic & Calming.

Palmolive Aroma Crème Exotic contains pure essential oils of Chamomile and

Sandalwood. Chamomile has a sweet, fruity fragrance to help you relax and induce

a sense of caring. Combined with rich, nourishing Sandalwood, this exotic

variation relieves the body of stress and invigorates the senses.

Palmolive Aroma Crème Calming contains pure essential oils of Neroli and

Rosewood. The floral and euphoric property of Neroli combined with woody

Rosewood energizes the mind and body, increases self-confidence and creates a

feeling of well-being.

Vinay Hegde, Executive VP, Marketing, Colgate Palmolive India said,

" Today's woman lives a hectic life. As a professional, a home maker, a wife, a

mother she juggles so many roles but gets so little time for herself. New

Palmolive Aroma Crème is targeted at today's woman giving her a new bathing

experience, stimulating both body and mind. Whilst caring for the body, the

essential oils of New Palmolive Aroma Crème also assist in keeping the mind and

emotions in balance, thus effectively combating stress. "

New Palmolive Aroma Crème is packaged in elegantly designed bottles to

extend itself as a stylish bathroom accessory for the modern day woman. The new

Palmolive Aroma Crème range retails for Rs90 per bottle and is available in

vibrant colours across all hypermarkets and supermarkets. The launch is being

supported by a multimedia campaign

Hi Pat

Thanks for this inoformation. I took it and posted it on my group for

perfumery, and also did some follow up. BTW, one member said, hey,

they could be lying and using synthetics, or using the real thing.

Either way, aromatherapy and conservation efforts are being destroyed,

I say.

Here's what I wrote, and there is contact info here, for those who

want to let Colgate know their feelings on this unwise new product:

You just announced you'll be making this product with sandalwood and

rosewood oils. These trees are highly endangered due

to deforestation and

overharvesting. I will boycott your products

I host a group of almost 600 perfumers

and they have been made aware of

this ecological disaster you are fostering.

I will also be contacting the

local media in my city about this.

Whomever in your company came up with this environmentally-offensive

product should be fired. It's as if Colgate

had a new product touting the

benefits of baby seal oil on the skin -- offensive

and disastrous to that

species. I will actively campaign to stop this product.

If you don't like what a company like this is doing the answer is to

not buy ANYTHING that they make and tell everyone you know why. It

is called a boycott and can be very effective.

This rosewood issue is tied up with major criminal activities in

Brazil. That part of Brazil is a lawless place where murder is

common and land barons can buy themselves out of trouble. Also

slavery is rife on the plantations. Even area judges have been

threatened with a bullet in the head if they continue prosecuting

murderers who work for the land barons.

The use of rosewood oil in aromatherapy, etc. just cannot be

separated from these issues.

Morning Pamela,

I did find the info about Sandalwood, Rosewood & Colgate on the web. A

friend of mine told me about Google Alerts so I signed up to receive a

number of them (essential oils, botanical extracts, aromatherapy, skin care,

perfumery). Every day they compile news items from around the world

pertaining to your topic of choice & pass them on to you. Keeps be

up-to-date on information I wouldn't normally have access to.

Thanks Anya for taking the time to provide us all with that invaluable

information and getting the ball rolling. I will be passing it on to my

contacts as well.

Anya,

Didn't you find out they're only going to be selling this particular

product in India?

Yep. and Marcia responded, on my list, that that news was two years

old (perhaps) and that the stuff has been in the market there and a

bit of a flop, since they know their oils and don't like the corporate

product (or info to that effect.)

Still, I fired off a note to the CS of Colgate last friday, and I

realize they should have replied to me by now! I got the " only in

India " info when I called Tuesday. Hope they reply in writing, love to

see what they say.
