I've always added a splash of vinegar to the rinse water...but use a second

(plain) rinse afterwards...the clothes come out clean and fluffy with no

vinegar smell.

 

I suspect they suggest the lemon tea tree and lemon myrtle as

antibacterials that smell a LOT better than tea tree.
