Hi Everyone,

Happy Summer Solstice!

One of my favorite sore muscle rubs involves cayenne infused oil and i am

having a hell of a time finding any WHOLE cayennes to use (fresh or dried,

seems people only want to grind 'em up into powder these days). But, I do

not want to use powder as it is almost impossible to strain it out of an

infused oil. I thought I had finally found some whole cayenne peppers, but

what showed up on my doorstep is in fact a bunch of seeds and " cut " teeny

tiny small pieces of pepper (and a bunch of residual powder in the bottom of

the bag) like you would find in a shaker jar at a Pizza Parlor. Should I

try to infuse with the seeds and cut pieces or just send them back (sell

them to the local pizza place?)?

as long as it will strain easily - moderately easily, i'm alright with

using it, but i'm not in the mood to find out the hard way that this bag of

gunk will result in an oil with a bunch leftover cayenne crap in it that I

can't strain and use.

on the other hand, i'm getting desperate to replenish my cayenne infused oil

supply and while my cayenne plants are growing quickly, they're not quite

ready for harvest just yet!; )

whaddya think? should i give the bag of gunk a try? ( it is from a reputable

herb company, btw. i just call it " gunk " b/c the peppers are a little more

" cut " than i had anticipated)

thanks!

Hi Bonnie,

I don't know where you live, but you can buy red cayenne peppers at HEB

Grocery Store here in TX. You can also contact your local farmer's market

and see if there any available there. My husband's uncle has tons in

Louisiana. I don't know how quickly you need them, but I might be able to

get them for you.

Blessings,

Ro

Thanks Ro. I'm in Oregon and have searched high and low for them --

including the farmer's markets and OR farmers don't seem to have ever heard

of peppers LOL. Right now, i need to decide whether to use the cayenne

" pulp " i have right now, so while your offer is very sweet, don't worry

about it.
