Guest guest
BLARG! Just what I want - hairline and neck zits - NOT ;-p *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Hi Linda, Chris: Years ago a derm was on TV warning about isopropyl myristate causing acne. He said if you even have it in rinse-off hair conditioners it can cause cystic acne on the neck and hairline. It is used for " slip " texture, not absorption, I think, although absorption may be a secondary usage: it's used in rust penetrants! Here are some links on it and acne cosmetica: http://www.acne.com/prevention/cosmetics.php http://tobeinformed.com/ns/acne-home-remedies.html http://naturalperfumery.com The Web's Premier site for information on Natural Perfume for a great discussion group

I should have written her privately about it, I surely didn't want it to appear I was criticizing her product. I think her name is Linda. Sorry, Linda. Just what I want - hairline and neck zits - NOT ;-p <SNIP> Hi Chris, and everyone else... <waves> I actually have IPM in a face blend that I am currently using. I have rosacea....and believe it or not, this blend is actually helping my face. I don't have as many of the 'acne' spots as I did before, and my cheeks are a nice 'pink' now, instead of fire-engine red! Now, I am not saying that the Isopropyl Myristate is what's helping my face....but I can say, for me, it's not causing more zits. (And that is always a good thing!) Just thought I'd give an account of my experience with IPM. The reason I used it in the formula, is because it does add a nice 'slip', and since my face blend is only oils/butters and the IPM, it really helps the oils to not feel greasy on my skin. This blend soaks right into my skin, leaving it very very soft. I thought I'd give my experience, just in case there's someone out there that might be thinking of using Isopropyl Myristate. I guess my motto is....try it if you want, you might like it. If you don't like it, you can always sell it at a garage sale! LOL If I could find a 'natural' substance that would give that nice slip quality, I'd certainly use it over a chemical. <sigh> Hope everyone is having a great evening!
