Guest guest
I am not one to post but I do need some help at the moment. My 15 year old son has been complaining of an ear ache since last night. He has been getting these since he was a little guy. My doctors office is closed today so I am in need of something that will help him now. Plus I don't like to use antibiotics if I don't have to. I know that EO's don't go into the ear but onto a cottonball and that gets placed into the ear. I for the life of me can't remember which EO's are best for ear aches. HELP!!! Thanks in advance. Guest guest
Hi Diane, First thing I would try for my little ones is a simple decongestant. Many times basic earaches are caused from congested sinuses. Warmed olive oil infused with garlic and mullein leaf is also excellent for earaches (but I'd definitely use the decongestant AND do that). As far as an EO - I'd simply have him sniff oregano oil several times a day. I wouldn't put that in or near the ear though. Just sniff Also, if your son gets these on a regular or semi regular basis, he might have a food allergy of some sort. In the book, Childhood Ear Infections, by Dr. Michael A. Schmidt, he presents over 16 scientific studies that show that many cases of chronic ear infections are due to food or airborne allergies or hypersensitivity reactions. Allergies can cause significant pressure changes within the middle ear, as well as obstruction of the Eustachian tube. The most common allergens implicated in ear infection are cow's milk and dairy products, wheat, eggs, chocolate, citrus, corn, soy, peanuts or other nuts, shellfish, sugar, and yeast. Dairy is the number one contributor to childhood ear problems. Proper allergy management, such as elimination and rotation diets, can produce dramatic recovery in allergic children with chronic ear infections. There is also a helpful article on earaches here: http://www.healthy.net/scr/article.asp?ID=1594 I hope your son is feeling better in no time *Smile* Chris (list mom) Neroli Bigarade Hydrosol Pre-Buy <http://www.alittleolfactory.com> http://www.alittleolfactory.com On Behalf Of cadizdeedee I am not one to post but I do need some help at the moment. Guest guest
Hi Diane, Just use an oil, infused mullein/garlic is best, but any warmed oil will do. The thing that will help most, is to roast an onion, wrap it in a cloth, and have him keep it on the ear - it draws the pain out - I would not put any cotton wool in the ear, Regards, Mary Well, Naturally At 09:37 AM 6/16/2005, you wrote: >I am not one to post but I do need some help at the moment. > >My 15 year old son has been complaining of an ear ache since last >night.
