I really appreciate all the useful info on lavender oil. Although i did use

it neat with no adverse results, it is good to know that it should be diluted.

I also thought this EO was safe to use straight.

There have been MANY stories on this list and others that will document that

even lavender can cause sensitivity issues when used neat or undiluted. You

don't know when the sensitivity will occur ... after the 1st use, the 2nd,

the 3rd, or ??????

I understand that you may be one of the ones that have not had a problem;

and that you will make decisions for your own treatment. I only hope that

you will consider that your recommendations to others be that essential oils

ALWAYS BE DILUTED.

I use lavender neat as well. I've never had a problem with sensitivity.

Another reason to think of diluting really has to do with

effectiveness. Essential oils are extremely concentrated and a drop is

powerful. The carrier is also an important part of the blend whether it

be water, a carrier oil, aloe vera, etc.

also thought this EO was safe to use straight

Lavender and Tea Tree are the two most popularily hyped oils in the using

neat scenario. Tea Tree is one of the more sensitizing and irritation

problomatic oils around. Nether are " safe " to use undiluted... it is a game

of russian roulette. Never know when that allergy button is going to bite

ya and tis better to be safe than sorry.

These two oils (in particular) are very popular for writers of

" Aromatherapy Books " to push as safe to use neat. In fact I also did it,

used them neat. And occassionally if I'm in a real hurry, the kids are

nagging, the kitten is screaming for his food, the dog is barking at the

kids and the husband is grumping around, I will dump a few drops on a

boo-boo, but in general I try to keep- Boo-Boo Kisses filled up Diluted

Lavender). I'm also aware that what I'm doing is a no-no... most people

aren't aware and that's where a lot of the trouble starts. ;-)
