OT: Trip to the USA Postponed

Hey y'all,

 

Lots of folks been writing off line and wishing me a safe and fun trip.

I reckon my trip to the USA is postponed for a while .. till September.

 

Anna didn't get the Visa for the USA .. she called Wednesday afternoon

from Moscow and said they told her it would take at least a month ..

maybe six weeks. I told her to forget it and come back here cause we

had plans for an event in the USA on 18 June. I will go back with her

in late August and talk to the American Consulate General and we'll make

the trip in September. She never got past the Russians .. all American

Consulates overseas are manned by the local nationals .. they have

worked there for years and process all of the applications. I will make

it past the Russians.

 

She arrived back in Ankara last night .. disappointed but happy to be

back. We will head for Bodrum (on the Mediterranean) come Monday ..

then swing back up to Izmir (on the Agean) to visit with her sister and

her husband at their beach house.

 

So .. those of you who normally send your orders directly to me .. might

be faster if you send them to my folks in Maryland at Appalachian Valley

Natural Products <AnatolianTreasures for a couple weeks. :-P

 

I won't make my High School Reunion but that is not a big deal for me.

There were but 37 folks in my graduation class .. we grew up together in

a small town .. and there are 32 of us still above snakes now. I wanted

to introduce my lady to the old folks (like me) and see how good their

hearts were. Ten years ago I made the reunion .. had Yesim (my Turkish

girlfriend at the time) with me .. she was considerably younger than me

and that took my Redneck chums by surprise .. I reckon Anna would really

blow their minds. For those who are not aware .. in many cases age is

nothing but a number. ;-)

 

So .. the trip to America is postponed. Its not all bad too because the

airline tickets were expensive .. the rental car and hotel in Orlando ..

and even the motels across the country are much higher during the summer

vacation season .. they'll all be lower after school starts in September

plus more importantly .. it will be a bit cooler then.

 

Meantime .. we can find enough enjoyment in each other's company right

here in Turkey. And we might make a short trip to one of the European

countries .. or maybe to Russia .. in July. Travel from Turkey to most

of the European countries is less costly than flying from D.C. to San

Francisco .. its a mighty nice central location for travel.

 

I'm just glad to have my lady back with me .. that is the most important

thing for me right now. :-P
