both " regular " coconut oil and Virgin Coconut Oil are solid (soft, but

solid ;) at room temperature. They will melt on the skin

however. Neither is normally liquid.

depends on the purpose of the blend. for example, for a pain relieving

blend, I try to use either st. john's wort infused oil, or adding a little

calophyllum inophyllum to the base oils, since both can help ease some

kinds of pain.

for perfume or regular massage blends I prefer to use either jojoba or

frac. coconut because of their almost infinite shelf life.

Does anyone else have problems with fractionated coconut oil smelling

almost metallic? This has happened with every batch I have gotten and

also with products that I have used (not mine) with frac. coconut oil in

them.

Fractionated coconut makes me cringe for some reason and always has-

everything about it is distasteful to me- including the scent. It just

does not feel right to me (energetically). For an aromatherapy blend

that needs longevity I use pure Jojoba oil- which has an extremely long

shelf life. For perfumes with an oil base I also use very fine quality

Jojoba oil as it has no scent. It is a beautiful scentless long lasting

carrier oil (actually a wax- but used like an oil).

I know some people like Fractionated Coconut for the stability/

longevity. I has always just rubbed me the wrong way ;(

On the other hand- I use a lot of Raw Virgin Coconut oil / butter in my

balms and other body and hair products. It is also a mainstay of my

diet. If I could only buy one item to use on my skin and hair- one

single element of any kind it would be this. It's uses are many and it

is so beautiful. It does have a scent though and only the best quality

will do. You can't really compare fractionated with non fractionated

imo as they are so completely different. Give me Rose hydrosol and

Virgin Coconut and my body, skin, hair and soul (;-)) are gloriously

happy.

Life is simple and good!

OK, glad it isn't just me! The only time I have used the frac. coconut

is to add just a little bit to body oil blends to help it sink in a

little better, but recently I have found that I like jojoba much better

for this. You and I are peas in a pod, I love jojoba, VCO and rose

hydrosol, too -- but I also have a rose otto / sandalwood addiction

right now -- I slather it on every morning after my shower in a body oil

base of rice bran, jojoba, meadowfoam, rose hipseed oil . . . ohhhhhhhh

yeaaaahhhhhh . . . :-)
