Guest guest
Hey Roxanne, > Hey back atchya, Butch! Fair it is. :-P >>I'd use 3-4% Lemon Eucalyptus > > Are you saying I could use 3 - 4% *in addition* to 5% catnip? Yep .. but remember .. I said it does NOT need to be applied to the skin to be effective. > What if I wanted to blend some other EOs, like mabe lemon tea tree > (which, I believe has also been shown to be effective) or geranium > for ticks? Go for it .. but pay attention to the above .. Lemon Tea Tree has not been safety tested .. simply because its not used in the commercial cosmetics world .. so we would be guessing at the safe margins if it were to be applied to the skin. > What's the *maximum* EO concentration I could use in such a product? That is what the Safety Manual " Plant Aromatics " is all about .. it shows the scientifically proven safe dilution for dermal application of EO that have been tested. The URL is below. The old edition was $75 .. I have published the new, revised edition and offer it for $44.90 .. it can now be seen and ordered at the following URL http://www.av-at.com/plantaromaticsavnp.html The revised edition came out in November 2001 and is now in the Fourth Printing. I am exclusive dealer for North and South America. But remember .. the fact that we can use X% of this and X% of that does not mean we can use them together in a blend .. that is multiplying the force .. its countering the test results .. and its gambling and hoping we are not going to lose. >>A good carrier for this blend would be Fractionated Coconut > > Yup, that's what I was planning to use. Wise decision methinks. ;-) > As always, thanks for your wonderful advice, Butch. My pleasure it was .. fer'shur. > Roxanne > > p.s. I was looking for your skeeter repellent on your website, but > didn't see it . . . did I just miss it or is it only available from > your store in MD? Not on the site .. I don't deal with blends anyway and we didn't make any up this year and will not do so until I get to Maryland myself. But if I were there now I would use 5%-6% Catnip and 3%-4% Lemon Eucalyptus. That is all I would use for a mosquito repellent. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
