I know Butch, and isn't that a bummer! I remember when i got Chris'

fabulous Russian Apothecary Rose floral wax a while back. It was so

gorgeous, so different, with such a winey/tobacco scent. Divine. I

found it lent an exquisite note to my solid floral perfumes, conveying

a depth and breadth of permanance and sensuality.

We know that there are so many factors, including climate, work force,

land availability, economics, etc., that go into the establishment of

any aromatic products that it almost precludes establishment of new

ones nowadays. :-(

I'm not sure .. the only Rose Ottos I am aware of are the Turkish,

Bulgarian, and Indian Rose Otto .. and Rose Otto comes ONLY from the

Damask Rose (Rosa damascena) .. the term Otto comes from Ottoman .. as

in Ottoman Empire .. as in the present day Republic of Turkey.

I think that scent of the Moroccan Rosa centifolia is far less

pronounced than the three Rose Ottos mentioned above.

Also .. keep in mind that of the over 6,000 varieties of Roses in the

world today .. only three of them (as far as I know) are distilled for

the oils .. and many nice smelling flowers (roses included) do not yield

an essential oil.

Butch and I had a small amount of some wonderful " Princesse de Nassau

Musk Rose " oil years back - it was a gas extracted oil.

That oil was very nice, and quite different from the Rose Absolutes and

Rose Otto's that I've experienced. It was more " tea rose " like than the

Damascena or Centifolia rose oils.

Unfortunately, neither of us have it available anymore. The little I

have left I hoard in my personal collection (and I am a rose HOG - I

have saved some rose oil from every batch I've ever gotten ;)
