I know it is very difficult to find info on Damiana. I have been

studying herbal medicine and lore for many years and I must have read

plenty about the herb so that I understood its praised actions,

because to back up what I know NOW has been very difficult.

But primarily, Damiana allows the blood to flow to the reproductive

system and stimulates this area, opening up the endocrine system as

well.

I suggested Damiana to 6 women 2 years ago and 4 of them got pregnant.

I too got pregnant with my 7th child while researching Damiana. I was

drinking tons of it and trying to learn about it. I was nursing and

careful about pregnancy, and I was surprised when I conceived Olivia.

Damiana was used by the aztec I beleive for its reproduction

proerties. Named after their goddess of life.

I am going to post a real story about Damiana in jsut a moment, but

David Hoffman's writings does reference Damiana.

Yerba mate and guarana I am familiar with as well. Yerba Mate is used

as a beverage in South America I beleive like we use coffee.

Guarana is an herb that is used in diet and energy products

so must be a stimulant as well.

I am sorry I am not more help. Damiana questions relaly catch my

attention because I have used and suggested it and results came of it.

The Holistic Herbal book may be benficial for you to have on hand.

There are 3 herbs that keep showing up in my research and while I have

seen some of the medicinal meanings of these herbs listed on various

websites, so far the information has been vague. So I thought I would

see what all of you think about them. The herbs I am referring to

are: Guarana, Damiana and Yerba Mate. Any information that you might

have on these herbs would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,

I suggest Damiana to the women I work with to help with a decreased

libido -- common in perimenopause and menopause. It's been hailed as

an aphrodisiac for centuries. It's also helpful for ED (erectile

dysfunction), bronchitis and asthma. It's even indicated for mild

depression.

Damiana extracts (weakly) bind to progesterone receptors, making it

helpful during perimenopause and menopause. You'll find it in many

women's formulas.

YerbaMate is wonderful! A great substitute for coffee. It's

energizing, but at the same time calming to the nervous system. MANY

great health benefits.

Guarana is an herbal caffeine. Very stimulating and it increases the

metabolism so it's in many weight loss products. I usually suggest

people avoid this one. Jangles the nerves, contributes to anxiety,

heart palpitations, etc.

Hope this helps a bit!

Michelle
