Guest guest
Hi y'all, Most of you are probably aware of the long running series of Nigerian Scams out and about .. they change on a daily basis but the motive of all is the same .. to rip you off. Examples below. http://www.snopes.com/crime/fraud/nigeria.asp http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/info/nigeria.htm But there is another one out .. it involves orders and payment via Credit Card. I have received a few dozens of these in the last two or three years .. they generally run something like this. > i will like to order from you to promite your goods and it brands names > and for our numerous client to order for it and we will pay you with > credit card and we will want you to ship the goods with ups or fedex > within 3-5 days to lagos nigeria, hope to hear from you soon. and as > soon as we hear from you we will place an order, and please give your > website link for your product. There will be slight variations in the style and content but they will always demand to pay via Credit Card. First .. they have no idea what I am selling .. nor do they probably know my web site because they ask me to tell them what it is. Odds are millions of posts are being sent out and they hit it right from time to time. The point of this scam is to collect goods without paying. They will order whatever you sell and you will be left holding an empty bucket. A check with our Credit Card companies indicates: 1. There is no guarantee of payment with any credit card .. not just from Nigeria. 2. A person can make an order and after receiving the merchandise they can call the credit card company and say they didn't order this stuff, or that their card was stolen and they are not going to pay for it. The Credit Card company will give them a credit on their CC account and then take back the amount of money back from us and also charge us a charge back fee. 3. Basically .. the crook gets free merchandise and gets his money back and we will be hit with the loss of our money/merchandise and a charge back fee. 4. This is not at all uncommon from Nigeria .. and there is nothing the credit card company can do about it. Long ago I started telling them that I did not do business via CC in Nigeria and that they would have to do a back transfer of US Dollars if they wished to order from me. After receiving no responses from a large number of inquiries .. I stopped replying .. I ignore them now. Forewarned is forearmed. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
