Guest guest
Hey y'all, Because I've been writing on the Origanums for many years .. Chris asked me if I was gonna join in since we're wrapping up the Oil of the Week, which is Oregano. In the Oils & Herbs Archive y'all can find probably more than 100 posts, to include personal testimonials, I've written on Oregano over the many years .. so I see no need to repeat any of this. I will answer any questions anyone has on the subject. Now I will lay out another personal testimonial on use of Oregano .. one that is less than 48 hours old. Here in Turkey one can purchase ANY prescription drug without a prescription from ANY pharmacy .. and it is a norm for affluent Turks to live on antibiotics .. the village folks normally can't afford them. I haven't taken an over the counter (except for aspirin) or prescription drug .. or visited a medical doctor except for routine physicals .. in ten years or so. The Turkish villagers and I are generally the healthiest folks here .. I rarely get sick. Last Friday night Anna and I went to dinner and I took her home afore midnight. Maybe an hour or so later I was working at my PC and started to have the worst chills I can ever recall. I was wearing PJs then so I grabbed a thick heavy robe .. pretty soon I was sweating like mad and shaking like I've seen soldiers shake AFTER a fire fight. Scared the crap out of me. I couldn't stop shaking .. I popped two aspirin and tried to sniff a bottle of Oregano but my hand was shaking too badly to keep it from spilling. I climbed under a goose down comforter and was still shaking. It was tiring .. wearing me out. A few minutes later Anna called and learned what was going down .. so she came over and brought some chicken soap .. the typical remedy of her folks (though she is a Christian she's Russian Jewish on her father's side) and in fact, its good medicine. I had some soup .. spiced with a couple of drops of Oregano EO .. not something that really goes well with chicken soup but at that time it mattered not. I had some Linden Blossom Tea and a bit later a big glass of tomato juice with a drop of Oregano EO in it. Hit the rack around 4 in the morning .. got up around noon Saturday. I was still a tad feverish but not aching or shaking and no chills .. and through all this there was no cough or sore throat .. just fever, chills and total exhaustion. I continued to sniff Oregano on and off Saturday and that night. This morning .. I woke up feeling like I normally do .. finer'n frog hair split three ways. Whatever had grabbed me was history! My points are .. Origanum is a wonder unto itself .. much scientifically supported data on its capability to kick a laundry list of Big Bad Bug Butts .. however .. we do NOT have to take it in capsules or ingest it neat to get good results. There are many novels out .. one is written on Oregano only by an ex-doctor who sells it .. that recommend massive ingestion. Sniffing will do the job! I have no qualms recommending folks spice up their food with a small tad of a safe and pure EO .. including the Origanums or Rosemary, Cineole (also a Big Bad Bug Butt Kicker) .. but spicing our foods is far different than ingesting neat or even partially diluted EO. Use of EO in food preparation is a norm in my home .. matter of fact, the lion's share of the EO produced is used in the Flavoring and Cosmetics industries .. but we do NOT have to ingest to get good results. Y'all keep smiling. Butch http://www.AV-AT.com Wholesale/Retail GC Tested EO/Rose Otto, Tested Hydrosols and other nice things shipped from our store in downtown Friendsville, MD.
