They look just like a ladybug sometimes a little more orange and they bite too. We had these in Manitoba like you are describing. My windows were covered in them and they were everywhere. I actually had pictures of them in my vacuum cleaner. Literally thousands and thousands of them. It was creepy, almost like a horror film I was informed when we were there that they were not a lady bug but an Asian beetle that was brought here to help control some other bug (cant remember which one) and they are getting out of control now.
