Guest guest
I'm going to start off with me and end up with YL. I'm one of those that Stacey mentioned in HER mail. I started off with the books, knowing absolutely nothing and dove in with glee. In fact you name it, I did it. (except shoving oils up folks intimate spaces). I used oils neat, I used oils on my cats, I used oils internally with my kids and myself, I did it all. In fact, had I run into YL in the beginning I would have been one of their most fanatical fans ever. Until I started learning. I hope I have enough common sense that if I had run into YL first I would have eventually run screaming from them later. However, I didn't and I did start learning. I used oils (Roman Chamomile) neat on a little girl and burned her. That turned me off forever from using oils neat on folk and I still get sick thinking about it. Turned her mother off Aromatherapy for possibly ever. I used oils on my cats until the day that I put TT in their ears for earmites (following the book's instructions) and they screamed and bounced off the walls for hours. I used Oils internally on my kids until (they are smarter than I am) they flatly refused to do it anymore. And then I went to a college in Oxford, a real class taught by real aromatherapists and started learning. And I STILL made stupid mistakes and I STILL made erroneous assumptions, but they were less dangerous and I still kept learning. And I'm still learning (I hope). Which sorta brings me to YL. The majority of YL devotees are under-educated or just plain miss-educated in the use of oils. They are not given warnings about how oils burns, in fact that's a good sign of toxins coming out of a persons body. They have little or no training what so ever, they are told out and out lies about the miracle of the oils (example, will cure scoliosis, Heli in the ear will cure deafness, lavender will ease the pain of bone cancer etc.) which they pass on to others. YL's sole aim is to sell their product. That is what they do. That's what any company wants to do. Sell their product and make money. However they also do not care what happens to people using the oils. They push and promote their products through their conferences, using indoctrination techniques and lies. They tie it in with religion (which was REALLY smart on their part.), prey on the weak and the vulnerable and don't give a damn about what happens to the folk on the receiving end. And why should this bother you or anyone else for that matter? Unfortunately they have managed to insinuate themselves into peoples lives. Their RDT is being performed in spas now for example. The use of massive amount of neat essential oils is being used by the ignorant and uncaring on to innocent folk that happen to come their way. One of these days, someone is going to get seriously hurt, sue and you can bet your business that Aromatherapy is going to be looked at by the FDA and seriously become regulated. Why should YOU care, because eventually, what THEY do is going to come back and haunt us all, especially if we don't take a stand and do our best to distance ourselves from their dangerous practices. That's why you should care. Forget the folk they're hurting now, be selfish and remember that in the long run, it's going to hurt YOU. Now. Using E.O's neat... Is there a place for it? Maybe. However it's my opinion that it's not something that someone with out a medical degree AND a great working knowledge of the chemistry of E'O.'s should be playing around with. I don't believe it's something the aromatherapy community has any business fooling around with. We simply DON'T have the knowledge and I frankly don't have the money to cover my butt in any lawsuit to be mucking about with Neat E.O's. I could go on, but I think i've dribbled on long enough! :-) Cheers! There is so much negative, non-supportive behaviour that I have witnessed. I really don't care about Young Living - if it is helping some people, why should I? I think there are bigger evils out there in the allopathic world that should be targeted. I believe in safety standards but I also believe you can go too far with them to the point of limiting the profession.
