Guest guest
Hello, Does anyone have any knowledge, research and/or opinions for or against heating of eos (like in a burner diffusor)? Does it change the properties of the oil in a way that renders the oils useless in terms of its benefits (or dangerous)? Is this a valid form of diffusing? What about hot water through steam? Thanks bunches, Terri
Guest guest
Hi Terri My understanding is that the classic candle burner does heat up the ols to quickly and therefore changes the chemical make - up of the essential oils. Diffusers and aroma stones heat the oils very gently and minimise this. Direct steam inhalation is one of the best ways to get the properties of essential oils into us when required. As they act upon the mucous membranes and get into the blood stream. This is as I understand it. Guest guest
Essential oils are mainly produced at very high temperatures at which the natural oil composition is changed anyway. As long as the oil is not burnt, then all you are doing with a diffuser is putting the oil back into its gaseous state the same as you do with distillation. Vaporisation is the oldest form of using essential oils particularly for chest infections and is highly beneficial.
