Hi Butch, Just wondering......Horizon Herbs sells opium poppy seeds here. http://www.horizonherbs.com/detail.asp?product_id=ppopppe Is this different poppy than actual poppy that is used to make opium? Guest guest
Hey Melissa, > Hi folks, > DH brought home a vial of (to quote him) " extremely rare and precious opium > EO from the massage therapist for relaxation " . I didn't see the bottle but > *I*'m thinking its fragrance oil. DH argued and insists its the real thing. > Does opium EO exist? > Dubious... > Melissa I have never heard of an Opium Essential Oil .. and I doubt that it exists because it would have to be distilled .. and the Opium Poppy (which is gummy fer'shur) would have to be placed in a hydro-steam distillation unit. Odds of someone getting their hands on Opium Poppies LEGALLY are very slim .. they're controlled BIG TIME .. even the harvest is controlled. I have been around them for years and they don't even allow folks in the fields .. though Chris and I have been in the fields. Distilling Opium in any case would be like distilling Orange Blossoms .. Neroli is very expensive because for every blossom distilled there is no orange to sell. Same goes for Opium .. its a very costly product. There are some so-called exotic companies selling what they call Essence of Opium .. runs around $15 for 10 milliliters .. its used in massage blends. Odds are that is what you have. It is NOT a natural product! Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
