That would certainly be an action deserving close observation. Almost

as certain as a lawyer not reaching for someone's pocketbook.

Libertarians are too extreme (and unrealistic) for me .. worse than the

extreme Left or Right Wingers .. at least the Left and Right Wing types

have a few (though not many) plausible positions. ;-)

 

Free Will (or self government) translates to chaos and anarchy .. and

though MTV is actually hard Left in its presentations, the young folks,

those in their early teens .. come away from it thinking that if it

feels good .. do it .. that's Libertarian in another form.

 

Left Wing government translates to an all-knowing Big Brother dictating

the most mundane aspects of our lives (as we see in the EU now) .. that

is the ultimate goal of the Left Wing .. take good care of the ignorant

masses and promote the elite.

 

Government in bed with big industry and the military while screwing the

little guy is an unfortunate reality regardless of who is in power ..

but it is what some claim is the result of Right Wing thinking. The

unfortunate reality of Right Wing government (in the last few years) has

been to screw the masses and promote the elite.

 

I'm a Republican cause I see it as the lessor of evils .. I have voted

Democratic and will again if I think the best person is a Democrat.

Ideally, I would like to see government of the people and such .. not

government for the people .. and certainly not free will or chaos.

 

I don't buy the religious fundamentalist crap common on the Right nor

the prohibition of religious beliefs and sharing of wealth crap common

to the Left. I don't buy the erosion of individual liberties common to

both the Left and the Right.

 

I believe less government is the best kind .. and governments should

have the degree of control the citizens allow them to have .. but there

is certainly a time and place for government to " interfere " .. just as

there is a time and place for police officers to interfere in our lives.

 

The most perfect governments that have ever existed were too small to

survive and all were later overwhelmed by more so-called " enlightened "

governments. ;-)

 

Voting in the USA .. or in any other country I have ever worked in .. is

a lot like choosing the method in which you want to be executed.

 

Voting in Turkey is not perfect either but at least it is Democracy and

that is rarely found in countries with Moslem populations. The party

now in power is a so-called Moderate Moslem party .. they took the win

with 34% of the vote (not uncommon in Parliamentary systems) but half

the folks who voted for them did not like them .. they just hated them

less than they did the other parties. In truth, this party has done

more for the country than all the Right & Left parties did in the last

twenty five years.

 

I have divorced myself from government influence as best I can .. at

least as much as possible from a business point of view. I pay my taxes

and follow those rules I respect .. disregard the others .. and want to

be left alone otherwise. Lately I've been thinking of buying a beach

house on the Med and disappearing for months at a time .. at this time

it seems like a good idea .. but I might change my mind. ;-)
