Black Cumin (Nigella sativa) Oil

Just had to share this with everybody. After Nigella sativa was " herb

of the week " a few weeks back, I ordered some of the oil from Butch.

This past Sunday evening I was in the mood for a salad, so I went

foraging in my yard for a nice bowlful of dandelion greens...and a few

violets, both of which are very common in my " lawn " ! Much to my dismay,

I had absolutely no salad dressing in the fridge! I started eyeing the

bottle of Black Cumin oil that was still sitting on the counter...I

hadn't done anything except to open it for a test " sniff " (it has a

lovely warm nutty odor). Now, Black Cumin is actually an expressed oil,

not distilled...it's closer to being a " fixed " type oil than an actual

EO. So I did something I would never do with a true EO...I dotted a

small drop on my finger and tasted it...YUMMY! (True EO I would dilute

like crazy in Olive Oil before tasting, LOL!) I drizzled about 1/4 tsp.

over my salad as a dressing...very tasty! And quite healthy, based on

all the info Chris posted a few weeks ago!

 

We'll probably be grilling out this weekend if the weather is nice...I

plan to do some homemade garlic bread by whipping a couple of

tablespoons of butter with a teaspoon of the B.C. oil, a drop of oregano

EO, and a small clove of finely minced garlic....

 

Is it lunchtime yet? Pass the Black Cumin oil, please!
