Guest guest
I'm in total agreement with Butch on this. However, if you want to quote some studies you could try Jane Buckle's " clinical aromatherapy " where she debunks the " don't use AT during pregnancy " theory. She says that normal use of AT isn't sufficient to shift a " safe " pregnancy, but that miscarriages have happened when essential oils have been ingested several millilitres at a time - pennyroyal is quoted and I would suggest that women ingesting pennyroyal essential oil while pregnant were probably after its abortificant properties! You could look at some of the positive uses of AT during pregnancy. Again, Jane Buckle quotes some egs particulary with regard to pregnancy induced hypertension. She also recommends some texts written by practising English midwives, which might prove useful. I know you're not covering labour, but I have had at least one positive labour using rose and frankincense in a massage blend, plus an orange blossom hydrosol spritzer. I'll supply details if you like Hope this helps Wendy
