Guest guest
I have to agree with Marge here in the sense of what is the beginner's area of interest? That makes a big difference in what books you're going to want to get ... Now, not saying this in any bragging way, but I haven't been a beginner in so long that I don't know what books are out there these days for true beginners. I'm sure many have come out since I started. That being said - I always recommend Martin's book Plant Aromatics to everyone, 'cause its good to know well researched safety info from the get go ... but other than that ... I need to do some " modern research " myself *lol* *Smile* Chris (list mom - feeling old all of a sudden - having been into studying EO's and herbs for over half my life now and being in business for myself for over half a decade now http://www.alittleolfactory.com Marge Clark [marge] >Which aroma therapy books do you recommend for beginners? my VERY favorite beginner's book is Roberta Wilson's " guide to vibrant health and beauty " you can read my full review of it at http://www.naturesgift.com/booklist.htm (our Amazon list...it's the second book on the list.) it has a good 'mix' of information about each covered oil and blends using the oil... the second edition has added more info on hydrosols (she's been strongly influenced by Suzanne Catty) and carrier oils. Guest guest
Thanks! I had been thinking of getting Valerie Wormwood, and Martin's remarks about parroting information without research gave me second thoughts. My main interest is wellness/therapeutic. Guest guest
Hi Ien, I have a few of Valerie's books and the biggest problems I've found with them (after years of learning about all this stuff) is that: A. she doesn't explain WHY she picks certain oils for certain things - just gives recipes with no explanation about the actions of the oils she has chosen and B. like Martin says about many books in general - she seems to just pass along the same info everyone else does - " don't use X oil for this " or " do use Y oil for that " - without any discussion of WHY ... Maybe her recipes might be right on the money and work wonders, but please tell the " neophytes " WHY?!?!!? *lol* *Smile* Chris (list mom - old fart - headed to bed now http://www.alittleolfactory.com Ieneke van Houten [ienvan] Thanks!
